The final packet drop off is tomorrow, Friday. We will have our bins out 8-4 today and 8-6 tomorrow. Please make sure packets are completed and dropped off by 6pm tomorrow evening. ALL packets are due by the end of the day tomorrow.
We want to thank you for all the time you have taken to help your child with these educational packets. This is not the way we thought our year would go, but you have all been fantastic!

PCS Baseball Announcement for 2020 Fall Season
Any incoming 7th-8th grade boy interested in playing Junior High Baseball in the fall of 2020 please email Coach Heinz at jheinz@pikeland.org.
Please include student's name, grade, and parent phone number.
Thanks!
Good afternoon!!
I hope you're all having a great week! I have some 8th grade graduation information!
Mrs. Greger and I will be at PCS on May 12 from 4:30-6:30. Mrs. Greger will be handing out registration packets. These packets have information about classes along with the document to choose classes for the freshman year. It is very important that these packets get picked up. I will have the graduation gowns. The students were measured for the gowns earlier in the year. The gowns were then ordered but no money was collected. The gowns are $20 each and that fee will be collected when the gown is picked up.
Graduation:
Graduation will take place throughout the day on May 20 and May 21. The hours are 10AM-7PM. The recognitions will be scheduled 10 minutes apart. Parents will be receiving a call from the school to schedule a time to bring their child in for the picture and diploma.
Students and families are to abide by the following:
Students, and only their immediate family members who are staying at home together, will report at their designated time to the front of Pikeland Community School. Families should use the front, main entrance to PCS. Upon arrival, the student may exit the car individually, in his/her gown, to receive his/her diploma and get a picture taken. (We will contact the family, or mail the photo, once the photo is ready.) At no time can anyone else exit the vehicle. Once the student has been photographed and received their diploma, he/she are to return to the vehicle and depart from the school grounds.
When the student gets out of the vehicle, his/her name will be announced and the student will pick the diploma up off of the table.
Please note that the table will be sanitized between students.
School personnel will use masks and sanitize hands after each student leaves.
Please don't hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Jockisch

I apologize for an error in the earlier post. It should state: The following things will be picked up —TODAY.
The following things will be picked up TODAY.
Good morning!
We hope you are all navigating through this crazy life right now! If you need something, school related or not, please give us a call. This is a very emotional time for all of us. We will help you in any way possible.
We wanted to send a reminder that we have a packet pick up today, Friday, May 1. Pick up time is 2pm-6pm at the front of PCS. Please use the "Dpod" entrance for Dpod students and the main entrance for Cpod students. If you have students in both ends, you have the choice of which entrance you want to use.
The following things will be picked up tomorrow:
Packet #4
*Report Cards
*Spring picture proof sheet (You will order directly from *Interstate)
*Belongings from the PE and hallway lockers
The following things will be dropped off tomorrow:
*Any packets your child has finished (Packets 1, 2, & 3 for Dpod and 1 & 3 for Cpod should be complete)
*Dpod Only - We will have an envelope on the table when you come to drop off/pick up. Please place ONLY packet #3 in that envelope. Put any packet #1 or #2 directly in the drop-off bin.
*Library books (PCS library or teacher library books)
*Dpod Only - Curriculum books
*Dpod Only - Sports uniforms (volleyball and wrestling)
Wow! That is a lot of information! There is one more piece of information that is important. If your child receives two envelopes, he/she didn't complete a packet. We have included the work that was missing or incomplete. Please have them do this work before they start on packet #4. Packets 1-3 need to be finished and turned in as soon as possible. If your child did not complete packet #1, or he/she has things missing from packet #1, he/she will have an (I)incomplete on his/her report card. Once the packet is turned in, it will need to sit for a few days before it is assessed, and then the grade will be adjusted. This process will take approximately 10 days. We will reprint and send out reports cards as soon as the process is finished. Please call if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Mr. Frieden and Mrs. Jockisch

P.C.S. grades 3-5, there has been a change in the Pies for P.C.S. pick-up schedule. Unfortunately, due to the inclement weather reports, we have to move the third-grade pie pick up time to 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday (tomorrow). Fourth grade pick-up time is the same, 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Wednesday. Fifth grade pick-up time is the same, 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Thursday. For all pick-ups, we ask that you enter the front of P.C.S. and follow the signs. Once you reach the back of P.C.S. there will be a staff member to tell you how to proceed. To keep everyone safe, we ask that you practice social distancing throughout the pick-up process. Thank you for those who participated! If you have questions, contact P.C.S. tomorrow at (217) 285-9462. Have a great week!

Good afternoon!
We hope that you are all healthy during this "stay at home" time. We miss our students terribly, but we know this is the best for the health of everyone.
We will have our next packet pick up on May 1 from 2pm-6pm. We are asking that Dpod students come in the Dpod drive and Cpod students come in the Cpod drive. This will help to reduce wait time. If you have a student in each end, just pick either drive.
The following information is general for 3-8:
Packet drop off - There will be an envelope on the table when you stop to pick up packet #4. Please place only the packet #3 in the envelope. If you have other packets, or parts of packets, please just place those in the bin.
Packet #1 - If your child does not have all of packet #1 completed and turned in, he/she will receive an incomplete(I) on their 3rd quarter report card. A grade will replace the (I) once the packet is turned in and assessed.
Library books/Curriculum books - Please place any library books on the cart provided. If any 6-8 grade students have a science or social studies book to return, please bring it with you and place it on the cart.
Packet #4 pick up - Packet #4 will be picked up May 1. Packet #4 is due May 15. The official drop off for packet #4 is May 15. If your child has the packet complete and ready to turn in, we will have a container outside of PCS on May 12, 13, and 14. Please feel free to drop off completed packets at your convenience.
3rd quarter report cards - Report cards will be given out at the same time as packet #4. Please check for the report card before pulling away.
Belongings - We have student belongings from their desks/lockers. We will have these ready to go along with the packets. Please state the student's name, grade level, and teacher. This is the classroom teacher for grades 3-5 and the Team teacher for grades 6-8. We will then get the student's belongings, packet, and report card and place them at the table.
Uniforms - Volleyball players and wrestlers need to bring uniforms to drop off. Mr. Heinz will be at the drop off point. He will record your name as you drop your uniform off.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call Mr. Frieden or Mrs. Jockisch at 285-9462.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Mr. Frieden and Mrs. Jockisch

Pikeland Families,
Earlier today, Governor Pritzker issued an executive order requiring residents to “stay at home” effective Saturday, March 21 at 5:00 pm, through the end of April 7. As part of the Governor’s order, he announced that school will remain closed, with a new tentative reopening date of April 8. We recognize that this development may raise questions about the impact on students, staff, and families. We anticipate further guidance and details from the Illinois State Board of Education next week, and will update you when we know more.
During this time, we will continue to make food through our Snack Pack program available to students and are working to increase what we can safely offer in the next two weeks. Our district covers 326 square miles and delivering hot and cold foods to all of our communities is a challenge. We are continuing to work with our stakeholders to find additional ways to safely serve our students. We will have an announcement early next week about our Wednesday Snack Pack deliveries.
In addition, the governor has made it clear that, while he’s serious about using social distancing to slow the spread of COVID-19, he wants residents to still be able to work, shop at grocery stores, put gas in their cars, take walks outside and get medication from the pharmacy.
Please use this opportunity to focus on staying safe and helping to slow the spread of the virus. As always, thank you for your patience and support as we all work through the COVID-19 Pandemic. As you have seen, this situation is evolving rapidly and we will continue to communicate information as we receive it. Central office will continue to be staffed Monday through Friday from 8:00-1:00. Please call if you have questions or need to find resources. We will do our best to help you.
With Saukee Pride,
Paula Hawley
Superintendent
